Beach-iversary

IMG_0494e
Saturday we celebrated our anniversary by going to Surfside Beach! I got to spend all morning with this magnificent man.

And these magnificent kids! They loved everything about it. Did you know they're going to be two on Saturday? Say what?!

They made a cool sandcastle village.

Then they made cool sandcastle village ruins.

There wasn't a whole lot of area to play because the shore was covered in seaweed. I doubt I've ever seen so much. The boys weren't really bothered by it and wanted to walk over it to get to the water. Sean tried to  dig out a path with our little play shovel- ha. So over the seaweed we went. It wasn't the slimy kind, so I managed to not freak out. I wasn't sure how deep the water was when we got to the edge so we actually sat on the a shelf of seaweed, sticking our feet in until Sean came over and jumped in. The seaweed was about three feet high!

This is what Sean thinks of the seaweed predicament. It wasn't so terrible, I just wished there was a shore area for the kids to play.

And then a really funny thing happened. You see that red tent/umbrella thing in the background? Well, Sean noticed some people playing football right there and one of them had the curly hair of our friend Jon. And then... is that the red hair of Scott? Lo and behold, it was a bunch of friends from our old ward! Not 50 feet from us. We'd been right next to each other for over an hour and not even realized it. How do we travel all that way and end up at the same place? Crazy!

So we came and crashed their party. They were so kind to let us join.

Dash and Liam really liked having other kids to play with.

And really liked all the toys that came with all the other kids.

It was a really fun morning to our anniversary and we realized we needed to get to the beach way more often.

We later had a lovely anniversary dinner. Lovely for me, anyway, Sean had an allergic reaction and felt gross and slept the rest of the night. But he'd brought me flowers, so we'll call it even. Yay anniversary!

  2. That is way more seaweed than where we were, but at least you got a cool picture of it :-)!
