That's That

Well, we've been back from Colorado for a few days and I think we're finally adjusting. This place is bo-ring compared to Mimi and Pompa's house. I'll have you know that our return flight was at 8 pm (their bedtime) and the boys did NOT sleep ONE WINK. Not at all! They didn't lose consciousness until past midnight while driving back home. Yet the next day they were up and at'em at 7am. That day they were Cuh-ranky, with a capital C. And every morning since. But they're starting to mellow.

Also, as an airplane sidenote, we never get to sit next to each other because the boys are lap children. With a three-person row, they only have four oxygen masks. Were we all to sit together, there'd necessarily be an empty seat. Sometimes the plane isn't completely full and there is an empty seat or two but we won't know that until the end (and usually people won't want to move around to let us sit together, though it did happen once). So we just sit one in front of the other and pass stuff back and forth. SOO, on this flight, we were in our usual positions and another lady with a lap child sits next to Sean. So she's forcing the empty seat AND is sitting next to my family. That should be my seat, lady! Sean mentions to her and a flight attendant that his wife is in front of him but no one suggests we rearrange. Grumble grumble. But that lady did point out to me that I was leaving a toy and book at the end, so, hmph, I guess I forgive her. This tangent is much longer than I intended.

So a few notes of wrap-up on our fun filled week+ in The Centennial State.

1. First of all, the snow provided so many moments of fun. I'd love to have snow if it didn't also mean chilly chilly cold cold.

And second of all, oh how Liam and Dash love Rufus. He's such a hands on dog, meaning that he doesn't mind if their hands are all over him. And he'd lick them drippy- every time he'd come near the boys would scrunch up their bodies to protect their ticklish necks. AND he had a stand-off with a deer!

2. Grandparents are great.

It's soooo nice to be able to hang back and let someone else take charge of the kids for a bit. I actually read a book during the day. I took naps. It's divine!

3. Happy birthday!
happy birthday rachel
Rachel came for a long weekend and we got to celebrate her birthday. The boys did their best to entertain the birthday girl during her special song. They succeeded.

4. Accordion is spelled with two O's.
We had a lovely serenade by Pompa on the accordion. Sean spent the rest of the afternoon looking up how
to play the accordion.

He gets into things. Have I mentioned that Sean's picked up the harmonica, as well? After the boys got a cheapy one at Christmas, he bought himself one that actually functions properly and likes to play "You Are My Sunshine" for me. Swoon.

And that's that. Hurray for family, hurray for fun, hurray for all of us, everyone!

  1. You'd think another mom would understand and switch with you...oh well :-). I love the picture of the dog and deer!

  2. We sure are missing those fun boys. It has been pretty quiet around the house since you left (though Austin is still enjoying the Hot Wheels track...may have to leave it up for him). Thanks for the posts.

  3. Why does traveling have to be so stressful?! I'm mad for you at the lady on the plane. How rude!
