A Taste of the Wild

Zoo! Zoo! We went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo!
IMG_1861e
First stop: feeding the giraffes.

IMG_1830e
It's all happy and peaceful while one giraffe was around.

IMG_1842e
But when another butts in, watch out! Tongue fight! Liam almost lost his hand! (not really)

IMG_1847e
"Oh that was so funny, I just can't contain myself!"

IMG_1851e
Dash tried to keep from getting too much saliva on him.

IMG_1849e
"More lettuce please! Quick quick!"

IMG_1865e
Run away! We ran out of food and they're still hungry! Ack!

IMG_1871e
After that, this boy showed us all how to penguin walk.

IMG_1892e
And they fed some chickens.

IMG_1897e
And petted some too. Docile chickens.

IMG_1909e
One of Dash's favorite things to do these days is to grab a piece of Pogo's food, run over to her and feed it to her. One piece at a time. Keeps him busy.

IMG_1919e
They liked to watch the monkeys move about.

IMG_1924e
But it was the squirrel that really captured their attention. He's eating! He's so cute!

IMG_1932e
Meanwhile, Sean connected with his primal ancestry.

IMG_1934e
Of all the monkey exhibits, it was this one that Dash watched the longest. By far.

IMG_1938e
Sleepy orangutan!

IMG_1942e
I've got a tree-hugger son.

IMG_1946e
And a tree-hugger hubby.

IMG_1960e
This guy was working hard to impress a couple ladies a few feet away. Didn't seem to work.

IMG_1970e
We spelunked through a two-foot-long man-made cave. Awesome!

IMG_1968e
Don't forget about cuddles in-between!

IMG_1980e
We watched otters be cute and fight. (nice photo Sean)

IMG_1989e
We watched little boys be cute and fight.

IMG_1991e
Liam and Dash didn't care about this bear whatsoever and, man, he was putting on such a show, swimming and eating and catching fish. At one point, Dash had been sipping a drink on the ledge of the display far from the action but the bear suddenly swam up behind him. And all the other kids ran over to watch the bear up close, completely surrounding Dash. He was absolutely, completely oblivious to both the antsy kids in front of him and the wild bear feasting behind him. Good thing we don't live in the wild.

IMG_2001e
I guess the boys' apathetic attitude toward the bear rubbed off on everyone else.

IMG_2009e
Tiger blink.

IMG_2013e
And the boys' favorite exhibit of them all: the construction site. Bulldozers! Dirt! Tractors! So glad we came to the zoo!

(Congratulations for making it through all those pictures!)
