Conservatory

IMG_2747e
I feel rather silly for going through two Minnesota winters without knowing how perfect a place the Como Conservatory is for cold weather activities.

I generally just walk right past the conservatory and go to the zoo portion of Como but in the conservatory, you can spend the whole time inside!

And there's weekly themed toddler activities, which there was on they day we went for a preschool field trip.

Then there's a ton of plants to explore!

We found purple undersides.

We found the flower room.

Pretty.

We found water to poke.

IMG_2787e
We found giant leaves.

We found ledges for resting.

We found a koi pond. Grey did NOT want to move from this place.

We found the steamy, warm tropical room with creepy fish.

So much to find on a chilly winter day. Now I know for next year!

Prophets

IMG_2826e
Liam and Dash had a primary activity where they were instructed to dress as their favorite prophet. Liam chose Samuel the Lamanite (while impervious to arrows and rocks, the wind poses a real threat to his headband) and Dash chose Joseph Smith (whom Dash portrays with high chin and squinty eyes). Grey, who was too young for the activity, may be impersonating a super hero.

When it gets warm

IMG_2443e
A few weeks ago, the weather switched from bitter cold to a suddenly pleasant 50, 60, even 70 degrees! The kids and I just flitted around outside without coats as the snow melted.

Sand. I remember sand.

IMG_2413e
Why not use the big squirt guns to soak up the melted snow puddles?

IMG_2398e
All this non-frozen liquid outside, it's amazing!

I could take photos outside and not get freezing! So time for some face photos:

Stop taking pictures and pick me up! (belly photo bomb)

When you try to take a selfie with a 50mm lens.

After a week of miracle weather, things settle back into the 30s and 40s, which would have otherwise felt pleasant but comparatively felt downright chilly. Oh we are just so fickle.
