Fort Snelling
Always looking for a fun adventure when Sean has a day off, we decided to explore Fort Snelling. Being a fort, we didn't have high expectations, but it was actually really fun! Best fort experience I've ever had, ha ha!
Located on the Mighty Mississip, the fort was created initially to facilitate trading between natives and settlers.
They had people dressed in character and it was really fun to see them in action.
A little shooting practice.
While we all sat back and observed.
Ah, but we could participate! Getting their march on.
Time to charge at mom! I don't think the kids quite got the whole running attack thing. What? We're running now!
They also had a scavenger hunt for the kids to find different objects throughout the fort and have a character actor explain them. Here they're learning about making fire by hand vs. with tools.
A little break where they all look cuuuute.
My new favorite photo. I am completely in love with it.
The Commanding Officer's Quarters is the oldest home in Minnesota.
Cannon fire! It was really loud.
Grey being a two year old and forging his own path.
It's a fort so a flag picture is appropriate.
Atop the defense tower, the oldest standing building in Minnesota! Fort Snelling: A pleasantly awesome experience.
