Artistic Adventure

IMG_1402e
For our last adventure (besides going to the Mall of America so dad could shop at the sock store) for Grey's birthday was to check out the Walker Sculpture Garden. There was a homecoming being held there so we felt very under-dressed.

How many times have you seen the same ol' cheery on a spoon? So I tried something different. It's a smidge cool.

And we strolled around the sculptures, admiring here, questioning there.

IMG_1423e
A little bit of garden gazing for me and the birthday boy.

But then! We found the miniature golf created by artists! The golf ball/club checkout area was closed so we couldn't play but it was just as fun to explore.

IMG_1431e
THIS was the BEST! I've always wanted to try one of these rooms! I'm a GIANT!

Mini-Grandma.

You're supposed to have your friends stand on the footprints and golf around them.

All courses need to be this creative, what a fabulous idea!

party hats

IMG_1389e
I had forgotten to hand out party hats during Grey's little friend party the day before, so I made my family wear them to make up for it.

My dad always teaches my kids good things.

Then we opened a few presents.

Good news, Grey likes his drum! He's getting to be a little music man!

(one more birthday post to come!)

In the orchard

I love these people (thanks for the photo, daddio! Thanks for making the kids giggle, mama!)

Apple Farm

IMG_1298e
Since Sean had a long day of work on Grey's actual birthday (his boss let him off a teensy bit early so he could see the birthday boy before he went to bed!) we did the real celebrating on his Sean's day off.

IMG_1301e
And to celebrate, we went to an apple orchard.

IMG_1302e
Liam and Dash got to go on a tractor train. Woot woot!

IMG_1304e
Grey watched. Happy birthday! (and my parents came for the weekend! So nice that they're in reasonable driving distance)

IMG_1309e
We hoped to do some apple picking but they didn't have any apples available that day. Boo-urns.

IMG_1312e
We forced Grey to only take one nap that day (and he only slept for an hour). Happy birthday!

IMG_1317e
Time to sneak in cuddles with dad.

IMG_1320e
Also time to squeeze in giggles with grandpa.

IMG_1324e
"Grandpa's hat is so funny!"

IMG_1325e
I'll never get over their eyes.

IMG_1327e
Their squints, either. (I bought these jackets in a pinch, not realizing there was a skull and crossbones on that hood lip. Whoopsie.)

IMG_1332e
It was a Saturday, so it was crowded, which meant waiting in several lines.

IMG_1336e
We finally made it to the hay ride! (sans hay) The kids are so excited!...

IMG_1341e
That's a little better. Dash's smile, oy I love it.

Our happy family on this happy birthday day.

Made all the better by grandparents. Hurray!
