Butterfly House

IMG_8111e
After missing the Butterfly Museum on Valentine's Day, we finally made it there last week. There's a lot more to the place than just seeing butterflies fly around.

IMG_8186e
Future scientist- I like the look of that! Dash and Liam liked exploring all the exhibits.

IMG_8114e
We saw some other bugs before we saw the feature insects.

IMG_8117e
How'd you like to find that tucked in the corner of your living room?

IMG_8119e
Ah, getting closer. Butterflies from the front.

IMG_8118e
Butterflies from the back..

IMG_8120e
Grey didn't much like the indoor, museum stuff. Too much bending over causing him to stare at the floor.

IMG_8124e
But we finally got into the Butterfly House. There were butterflies everywhere, it was so lovely!

IMG_8133e
Liam and Dash have been talking about the "buhfly haus" every day since but you wouldn't have expected them to while they were there. They were so impatient walking through the place. I'd have liked to take a seat and watch them flutter about but the boys just kept tugging me along. They liked it, yes, but not enough keep them from their busy pace.

IMG_8147e
This is my favorite shot of the day. I constantly forget that Sean doesn't really like butterflies. Who doesn't like butterflies?! My husband. He gets weirded out by their creepy bodies. So he took one for the team by going to the museum.

IMG_8131e
But Grey, oh boy, Grey liked it most of all. Immediately he was catching sight of a butterfly and following it along.

IMG_8140e
It makes sense, I suppose. They're colorful and move at just the right pace for him to follow. It was quite sweet to watch.

IMG_8166e
So if it wasn't his brother's favorite activity, at least he really enjoyed it.

IMG_8197e
Outside of the museum, I found Horton's pink fluffy flower. I kept listening for a Who but maybe it was too windy.

IMG_8198e
There was also a big globe that sits in a bowl of water and you can spin it all around.

IMG_8208e
Those boys, they're going to move the earth, they are.

Four Legs

IMG_8232e
When I bought them these stools, this isn't quite what I intended.

IMG_8244e
But since when have they been using their toys the way I've intended.

IMG_8248e
Little daredevils. I think they're ready to join the circus!

T-Shirts

IMG_8100e
Whenever the twinners get their clothes wet, usually by playing in the rain, I like to put them in some of my old T-shirts. I don't know what it is but I think they look so cute.

IMG_8093e
I even get Grey in on the action. Because if something's cute on a two year old, you bet your button that it's super cute on the babe.

IMG_8098e
Now let the goofballing begin!

Raking

IMG_8078e
The leaves fall a little later in Houston, so we've just recently been raking leaves. Okay, maybe we've been putting it off for two months and now there's two big brown patches in the yard. What of it?

IMG_8069e
Liam and Dash were busy helping us.

IMG_8066e
Or, you know, not helping.

IMG_8084e
But mostly helping. Ahem, I should say "helping."

IMG_8076e
Who knew raking leaves could be so fun?

Chalked

What's Liam and Dash's favorite chalk activity?
IMG_7848e
Body outlines.

IMG_7851e
And they make all sorts of funny faces when we do it. Where did that even come from?

IMG_7856e
Coming in at a close second favorite activity is shoving the chalk in the nearby utility boxes. There's a little hole that is just the right size that if you really try, you can pop a chalk right in there. I've venture a guess that half our chalk supply is in that there plastic cover.

Singular

As cute as they are as copilots, they still like to take the reigns on their own from time to time.

A Family Valentine's Day

For Valentine's Day, we went out to eat.
valentines dinner
All five of us. Romantic! We were going to visit a butterfly museum that day but nap schedules prevented the outing. So we fed some fish instead.

IMG_7998e
When we first got there, there was a lady feeding fish with left over chips. She got so excited to see Liam and Dash and immediately started giving them chips to throw in the water. We kept trying to mention that we brought bread but she was way too thrilled to be sharing her chips.

IMG_8044e
And the kids were happy to oblige her.

IMG_8024e
And they tried climbing the fence because their such boys.

IMG_8033e
No fence-climbing for his little man. I held tight to him.

IMG_8058e
We stayed long enough to greet the nightfall.

IMG_8052e
The buildings' lights were dazzling in the water.

IMG_8053e
Sean and I could enjoy the pretty water ripples while Dash and Liam ran around like crazies.

IMG_8060e
A kind soul offered to take our family photo. How thoughtful. Hope you too had a happy (but less blurry) Valentine's!

Ice Cream Boys

IMG_7928e
Dash likes his ice cream.

IMG_7935e
Liam likes his ice cream.

IMG_7948e
Sean likes his ice cream.

IMG_7931e
Grey... aw, poor Grey, no ice cream yet. The woes of babyhood.

Wink

Hey Liam, can I see your wink? For Valentine's Day?
IMG_7875e
Yes! [wink]

Hey Dash, can I see your wink?
IMG_7879e
...Nooo. [scowl]

Okay, how about if you guys make this face. [surprised face]
IMG_7883e
Ahhh! [surprised face]

IMG_7887e
...Noooo. [exasperated face]

Grey? A wink? For me?
IMG_7906e
[grunty but still cute face]
Good enough!

Okay, sweetheart, you're going to wink for me, right?
IMG_7974e
Easy peasy. [pseudo-wink]

Two out of four aint bad.
